Milestone Donations
Each year the recruitment department at the Community Blood Bank tallies up each persons donations over their lifetime. An awards dinner is put on each April to honor all donors who have reached gallon milestone donations beginning with 5 gallons on up to the highest ever recognized at 105 gallons. Each donor is given a gift on behalf of the Community Blood Bank as a thank you for their dedication to blood donation. Below are some highlights from the 2010 Annual Donor Dinner.
44th Annual Donor Dinner - Heart to Heart
The Community Blood Bank (CBB) held their 44th Annual Donor Dinner at the Bel-Aire Clarion Hotel on April 7, 2011. The donor dinner takes place each year to honor local blood donors for their milestones in blood donation.
This year’s theme was “Heart to Heart”. In 2010, members of the recruitment department at the CBB along with their Medical Director, Dr. Jeffrey Richmond, created a program to honor loved ones who have received blood or blood products from the CBB. The evening’s speaker was JoAn Thompson, wife of the late City Council President, Mr. Jim Thompson. CBB held two blood drives in honor of Mr. Thompson in 2010.
This past year over 275 different communities, organizations, business, high schools, colleges and hospitals held drives with the CBB in the ten counties CBB services. Over 260 donors reached a milestone in their blood donation career in 2010; the highest milestone being 105 gallons!

More than 42,000 units of blood and blood products from the CBB are transfused annually. Everyone being honored this evening has helped to save the lives of local patients each and every year.
"This is a wonderful way to thank and honor each and every donor who helps to save the lives of local patients. The Community Blood Bank is so thankful to be a part of such a loyal and generous community." - staff at the Community Blood Bank
