How long does it take to donate?
Donating blood usually takes less about a half an hour from start to finish.
What area will my donation help?
The Community Blood Bank of NW PA is the EXCLUSIVE supplier of blood to all the hospitals in Erie, Warren, McKean and Elk counties and provides about 90% of all the blood used in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties in Western New York
Is there a minimum number of donations needed?
We need about 800 donors each & every week just to keep up with local usage.
How many people does 1 unit save?
1 unit of blood can be used to help save 3 different peoples’ lives.
How many units were used last year?
Last year 40,000 units of blood and blood products were transfused in the seven counties we serve in Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York.
Will I ever need to receive blood?
Odds are 1 in 3 that you’ll need blood during your lifetime but only 1 in 33 that you’re a regular blood donor!
